Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is hiring a Shop Technician Fabricator in Connecticut. You will assemble fire system components, read blueprints, and prepare items for site delivery. This role supports field operations, ensuring quality and safety per NFPA standards.

Typical duties include fabricating pipes and brackets, maintaining tools, performing quality checks, and working with a team in a fast-paced shop environment. Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:30 PM, with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1+ years fabrication, mechanical, or construction experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and assemble fire protection system components, including pipe, brackets, and system assemblies.
• Interpret precise dimensions using a tape measure and execute mechanical tasks to specification.
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and work orders.
• Prepare materials for delivery to job sites and ensure accuracy of fabricated items.
• Maintain shop equipment, tools, and machinery in proper working condition.
• Perform quality checks to ensure compliance with NFPA standards and company specifications.
• Assist with loading and unloading materials and equipment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment.
• Track material usage and notify management of shortages or discrepancies.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
