Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety, LLC is hiring a Shop Technician Fabricator in Bloomfield, CT. The role assembles and fabricates fire and life safety components for installation and service, interpreting blueprints and ensuring quality through NFPA standards. Physical work includes lifting 50+ lbs and maintaining a clean, safe shop.

Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:30 PM, with weekly pay and comprehensive benefits. Qualifications include a high school diploma and 1+ years in fabrication or related field;

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ years of fabrication, mechanical, or construction experience preferred.
• Experience with pipe fabrication, threading, and grooving equipment preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Basic math and measurement skills.
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical tasks throughout the day.
• Strong attention to detail and workmanship quality.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Preferred: Experience in fire protection or life safety systems and familiarity with NFPA standards.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and assemble fire protection system components, including pipe, brackets, and system assemblies.
• Interpret precise dimensions using a tape measure and execute mechanical tasks to specification.
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and work orders.
• Prepare materials for delivery to job sites and ensure accuracy of fabricated items.
• Maintain shop equipment, tools, and machinery in proper working condition.
• Perform quality checks to ensure compliance with NFPA standards and company specifications.
• Assist with loading and unloading materials and equipment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment.
• Track material usage and notify management of shortages or discrepancies.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
