Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a Shop Support Technician to assist with the fabrication, assembly, maintenance, and preparation of fire and life safety system components. You will help ensure materials are job-ready, meet quality standards, and comply with safety requirements.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, 1+ years in mechanical/warehouse/construction roles, and basic tool skills. Responsibilities include loading shipments, maintaining clean shop areas, and following safety

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ years of mechanical, warehouse, or construction experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
• Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math calculations.
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical tasks throughout the day.
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
• Preferred: Experience in fire protection or life safety systems and familiarity with NFPA standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the assembly and preparation of fire and life safety system components and materials.
• Support pipe cutting, threading, grooving, and general fabrication activities.
• Inspect, clean, and prepare equipment and materials for field installation and service.
• Receive and organize materials and ensure proper storage within the shop.
• Maintain shop tools, equipment, and work areas in safe and working condition.
• Perform basic maintenance and repairs on tools and equipment as needed.
• Assist with loading and unloading materials and preparing job shipments.
• Follow work orders, instructions, and basic drawings to complete assigned tasks.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

The Shop Support Technician is responsible for supporting the fabrication, assembly, maintenance, and preparation of fire and life safety system components and equipment. This role ensures materials and equipment are job-ready, meet quality standards, and comply with applicable safety and regulatory requirements.
