Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a Shop Support Technician to assist with fabricating and preparing fire and life safety components. You will support pipe work, inspect and prep materials, and help maintain a safe shop environment.

The role requires reading a tape measure, basic math, and the ability to lift 50+ lbs. A team-oriented, detail-focused mindset is essential in a fast-paced shop setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ years of mechanical, warehouse, or construction experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
• Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math calculations.
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical tasks throughout the day.
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the assembly and preparation of fire and life safety system components and materials.
• Support pipe cutting, threading, grooving, and general fabrication activities.
• Inspect, clean, and prepare equipment and materials for field installation and service.
• Receive and organize materials and ensure proper storage within the shop.
• Maintain shop tools, equipment, and work areas in safe and working condition.
• Perform basic maintenance and repairs on tools and equipment as needed.
• Assist with loading and unloading materials and preparing job shipments.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

The Shop Support Technician is responsible for supporting the fabrication, assembly, maintenance, and preparation of fire and life safety system components and equipment.
