Job summary

HDR’s Fire & Life Safety team in Omaha, NE is expanding, seeking a Fire & Life Safety Engineer to join multi-discipline design and engineering projects nationwide. You will lead production, manage projects, and contribute to developing our fire protection and life safety services.

Candidates should hold a PE license and 5 years of experience in fire protection design or consulting, with knowledge of NFPA codes. Proficiency with MS Office and design tools such as Trane TRACE is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or related field.
• PE registration/licensure required (Professional Engineer)
• 5 years of experience in fire protection design or consulting
• Knowledge of NFPA codes as applicable to HDR projects
• Proven ability to manage projects and collaborate with teams

Responsibilities

• Fire protection engineering and code consulting for projects across the country.
• Manage dedicated fire & life safety projects and content of interdisciplinary projects.
• Design fire protection systems including suppression, detection, and alarm.
• Provide life safety consulting and code compliance guidance.
• Develop Design Analyses, Code Requirements summaries and Life Safety Plans.
