Job summary

Atlas Connections is seeking a Fire Protection & Life Safety Engineer for their Lenexa, KS office. This role involves leading or assisting in the design and commissioning of fire suppression, detection, and life safety systems. The ideal candidate will have over 7 years of experience in fire safety design, a relevant engineering degree, and strong skills in AutoCAD and Revit.

You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards, document specifications, and conduct inspections.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in fire alarm, sprinkler, and life safety design.
• Passed the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering Exam.
• PE license preferred; pursuit of PE expected upon obtaining necessary work experience.

Atlas Connections has partnered with a multidisciplinary engineering firm to find a Fire Protection & Life Safety Engineer for their Lenexa, KS office. This is an opportunity to join an integrated team of architects, engineers, commissioning specialists, project managers, and construction managers working on life sciences, mission critical, and industrial projects.

What You'll Do

Depending on experience, lead or assist in code consulting, planning, design, and commissioning of fire suppression systems, fire detection and alarm systems, life safety systems, and hazardous material storage and use.

• Draft and model in AutoCAD and Revit
• Prepare and review specifications
• Perform hydraulic calculations
• Review shop drawings and calculations
• Conduct reviews of other firms' designs for third-party commissioning, peer review, or permitting
• Navigate, teach, and apply NFPA, ICC, and FM Global codes and standards
• Track schedules and coordinate with project managers across multiple concurrent projects
• Attend project meetings and coordinate with team members across engineering disciplines
• Visit job sites to verify existing conditions, observe construction progress, witness acceptance testing, and conduct third-party permitting inspections (approximately 5–10% travel)

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related engineering discipline
• 7+ years of experience in fire alarm, sprinkler, and life safety design
• Passed the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering Exam
• PE license preferred; pursuit of PE expected upon obtaining necessary work experience
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit
• Strong written and verbal communication; detail-oriented with excellent reading comprehension
