Job summary

Encore Community Services in Midtown Manhattan seeks a Fire Life and Safety Director for Encore 49 Residence. This part-time, non-exempt role (24 hours/week, weekends, on-site) leads FDNY planning, safety drills, and fire code compliance to protect residents.

The ideal candidate holds a valid Certificate of Fitness (F89/T89), brings fire safety experience, and can respond rapidly to emergencies while coordinating with the Residential Manager and facilities team.

Qualifications

• Two years’ experience in fire safety.
• T89 certificate or F89 certificate.
• Sensitivity and empathy for all residents.
• Ability to handle emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Fire Command Post and front desk area.
• Report any Fire conditions to the FDNY.
• Be familiar with the written Fire Safety plan and evacuation procedures.
• Conduct test of Fire Command Station and required and document in the Fire log.
• Initiate temporary preventive measures to ensure the safety of the building and tenants.
• Conduct Quarterly fire drills.
• Lead in emergencies by calling 911 or EMS.
• Receive shift reports and ensure continuous FLSD coverage.
• Perform 100% inspections on a semi-annual basis.
