Job summary

QAI laboratories in Tulsa, OK is seeking a Technician – Fire Lab to join our Building Products team. You will assist in fire testing, data collection, and report preparation under supervision.

Ideal candidates have a technical diploma with four years of experience in structural or construction laboratory testing, familiarity with ASTM/UL/CSA methods, and willingness to work overtime and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation/data acquisition/operating principles/calibration & general laboratory procedures; perform own testing typically under supervision
• Learning internal procedures, processes, safety requirements, and quality management system
• Basic understanding of ISO 17025 and accreditation requirements
• Competency: moving from level 1 to level 2 for a variety of standards within the business stream
• Effective at communicating with clients and coworkers. Shows professionalism.
• Familiar with MS Office and other software relevant to the position.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a level of technical competence in the specified field of testing.
• Maintains a level of technical competence in the field of testing to ensure validity of test results.
• Conducts supervised and/or unsupervised testing, data analysis and test report preparation per the competency matrix.
• Cooperates well with others and acts professionally
• Maintains proper calibration records.
• Able to operate relevant test equipment and perform basic maintenance.
