Job summary

National Gypsum Company seeks a hands-on tester to conduct structural, acoustical, and fire testing of building products and assemblies in accordance with ASTM, UL, NFPA and other standards. The role supports lab operations through test specimen construction, execution, data analysis, data reporting, and customer interaction.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of experience in a construction or manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on construction skills including the use of hand tools, power tools, and other equipment.
• Ability to consistently lift 50–60 pounds.
• Ability to climb ladders and/or work from heights more than 4 ft.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and client-focused service.
• Good written and verbal communication skills with solid analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Adherence to internal quality management system requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the construction and demolition of test wall and floor-ceiling assemblies.
• Assist in accurately recording construction details and test data in MS Excel.
• Assist the Test Engineer in coordinating test projects with clients and establishing time frames.
• Assist the Test Engineer in performing product tests according to national and international standards.
• Monitor man hours and material costs involved in test projects.
• Learn, understand, and support operation of the Steiner tunnel, and vertical and horizontal furnace.
• Perform additional duties as required, including paid overtime/extended hours during busy periods.
