Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience: At least 2 years administrative clerical experience with substantial public contact.
  • Knowledge: Fire codes, prevention technology, safety equipment; data collection, validation, and records handling.
  • Skills: Research to determine applicable code requirements; interpreting and applying complex laws, regulations, and policies; preparing clear, concise documentation.
  • Abilities: Communicate effectively with employees, management, citizens and officials; operate PCs and reporting tools.

Responsibilities

  • Enforces fire codes and maintains fire protection standards.
  • Maintains equipment like automatic and manual fire alarm systems and extinguishing systems.
  • Educates the public on fire safety measures.
  • Handles hazardous materials correctly.
  • Identifies and eliminates fire hazards in buildings and sites, including under construction.
  • Verifies code compliance through research and documentation.
  • Keeps records of inspections and violations.
