Job summary

Storey County is seeking a Fire Inspector II to perform inspections and enforce fire codes across public, commercial, industrial, residential properties, and related regulations. Under the Fire Marshal, you will handle inspections of new and existing structures and participate in life safety education programs.

Ideal candidates have ICC Fire Inspector II and Fire Plans Examiner credentials, 2 years’ field experience, and CPR.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associate’s degree in fire science preferred.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in fire prevention or inspections.
ICC Fire Inspector II and Fire Plans Examiner certifications required.
CPS Car Seat Technician certification within 12 months.
Nevada Class C driver’s license and CPR certification.
Pass a criminal background check.
NFPA/IFSAC Fire Service Instructor I within 12 months.

Responsibilities

Perform inspections and enforcement of fire codes and life safety.
Ensure compliance with IFC, NRS, NAC and related regulations.
Inspect public, commercial, industrial and residential properties.
Provide public fire and life safety education programs.
Work under supervision of Fire Marshal and operate autonomously when appropriate.
Conduct multiple types of fire-related inspections on new and existing structures.
