Johnson Controls in Richmond, VA is seeking an Inspector to perform routine inspections, testing, service, and preventative maintenance on fire alarm systems, including Simplex and similar lines. You will work with low voltage wiring and document results using laptops or paper, following a structured inspection schedule.

You must be able to lift up to 70 lbs, climb ladders, and sometimes work off-hours to meet customer needs.

Qualifications

• Fire Alarm equipment testing/inspecting experience required.
• Self-starter with minimal supervision.
• Strong organizational skills and quick learner.
• Physically capable of manual labor.
• Excellent communication abilities.
• Must have a valid driver's license with good driving record.
• Ability to work well with others.

What you will do

Inspectors are responsible for conducting routine inspections, testing, service, and preventative maintenance on Simplex Fire Alarm Systems as well as similar competitive manufacturers’ product lines. Work with low voltage wiring and associated devices for the operation of low voltage equipment. Complete Service Acknowledgements with proper coding through communication devices such as laptop computers and/or hard copy. Follow and maintain a highly structured inspection schedule. Input, retrieve and archive inspection documents via mobile device. Complete assigned inspections on time. Perform other duties as assigned.

What we look for

• Installation or Service Experience in testing and inspecting Fire Alarm Equipment.

• Self-starter that can work with little or no supervision

• Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and the ability to learn quickly

• Capable of performing physical labor

• Excellent communication skills

• High School Diploma or Equivalent

• Valid Driver’s License with good driving record

• Ability to work well with others

• Basic computer skills – Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook) along with SmartPhone skills

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $20-$26 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience,knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with marketdata.)
