Job summary

The County of Riverside Fire Department seeks a Fire Fleet Services Manager in Perris to lead the comprehensive fleet services program. You will oversee planning, procurement, inspection, maintenance, and disposal of diverse fire vehicles, directing Fleet Services staff and aligning with County policies.

Role emphasizes budgeting, vehicle specifications, and operational efficiencies to support emergency response.

Qualifications

• Five years of experience in a motor fleet setting in an administrative, management, or supervisory capacity.
• Five years of experience in a motor fleet setting with supervision of journey level automotive mechanics.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred, major coursework in business or public administration, or closely related field.
• Possession of a California Class B Driver's License is required; must obtain an unrestricted California CDL (Class B or A) within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, organize, and evaluate the work of the Fleet Division including productivity standards and quality control on repair work and preventive maintenance.
• Develop and direct policies, procedures, methods and standards for procurement, inspection, maintenance, repair and disposal of vehicles, fire apparatus and equipment.
• Establish and maintain policies for lease, purchase and deployment of vehicles and equipment.
• Oversee automated fleet management and fuel systems to provide data on usage and costs.
• Direct analysis of fleet operations and cost data to identify issues and realign staffing for efficiency and cost control.
• Maintain productivity standards and quality control on repair work and prevent maintenance programs.
• Provide program direction to staff engaged in equipment repair and maintenance.
• Work with Central Purchasing and Fleet Management to ensure policy compliance.
• Prepare and review the annual fleet budget and review budget requests for conformance with replacement criteria.
• Provide fleet budget updates and recommendations to Fire Department executive staff.
• Assist with developing specifications for new vehicles and fire apparatus.
• Perform vehicle and fire apparatus inspections and review accident reports.
• Study work processes for efficiency, quality, and cost effectiveness.
• Select, supervise, train and evaluate Fleet Services personnel.
• Evaluate proposed legislation for operational/financial impact on fleet activities.
