Job summary

Thompson Safety in Texas is seeking a Fire Service Technician responsible for installation, maintenance, and inspection of fire extinguishers, with potential expansion to test and repair fire suppression systems such as kitchen hoods and paint booths.

You will perform annual maintenance and inspections, determine proper type and placement of extinguishers, exchange units, and document findings on inspection reports. A valid driver's license and ability to pass background checks are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; certifications in extinguishers and suppression systems preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and experience with hand/power tools.
• Ability to read electrical schematic diagrams.
• Proven experience as a portable fire extinguisher and/or fire suppression technician.
• Familiarity with NFPA 10, 17, 17A, 96 and manuals (Ansul, Amerex, CaptiveAir, etc.).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass drug and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Perform annual maintenance and inspections of fire extinguishers.
• Determine proper type, quantity, and placement based on hazard.
• Exchange or replace obsolete/damaged units.
• Install cabinets, brackets, and wall hangers for extinguishers.
• Document findings on inspection reports.
• Communicate non-compliance issues to customers.
• Collaborate with customers and team for effective use of extinguishers.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and perform duties as assigned.
