Job summary

Thompson Safety in Texas is seeking a Fire Extinguisher/Kitchen Suppression System Technician to install, inspect, and service fire safety equipment.

You will perform annual maintenance, determine placement, and coordinate with customers, contractors, and team to ensure compliance and reliable operation.

Must have a state license; Texas K license preferred; strong reading of NFPA standards and ability to read electrical schematics.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; certifications in fire extinguishers and suppression preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and experience with hand/power tools.
• Knowledge of basic electricity and ability to read electrical schematic diagrams.
• Texas K license required; NFPA standards knowledge highly valued.
• Experience as a Fire Technician preferred; strong communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret NFPA standards and technical manuals.
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass drug/background checks.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with customers and teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform annual maintenance/inspections of fire extinguishers.
• Determine proper type, quantity, and placement of extinguishers based on hazards.
• Exchange extinguishers requiring service; replace obsolete/damaged units.
• Install fire extinguisher cabinets, brackets, and wall hangers.
• Indicate type, size, and location on inspection reports.
• Perform semi-annual and annual inspections of kitchen suppression, fire sprinkler, and fire alarm systems.
• Document findings and deficiencies on inspection reports.
• Communicate non-compliance issues to customers.
• Collaborate with customers, contractors, and team for repairs and maintenance.
• Provide technical support and guidance on system operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Build partnerships to grow business within the industry.
• Adhere to safety guidelines; protect self and others.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
