Job summary

State Fire is seeking a Fire Extinguisher Shop Technician to join our Utah service team. You’ll inspect, service, and recharge extinguishers to NFPA 10 standards and support our field crew.

This position requires hands-on tool use, independent work, good English communication, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to pass background checks and drug tests. Training is provided, and you’ll work with a team dedicated to safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Ability to use hand and battery-operated tools.
• Comfortable working independently and managing time efficiently.
• Strong communication skills in English—both written and verbal.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug test.
• Willingness to work occasional overtime and travel overnight when needed.
• Obtain a Utah Fire Extinguisher License within 60 days of hire

Responsibilities

• Inspect, service, and recharge fire extinguishers to NFPA 10 standards
• Handle dry chemical powder recovery and refilling
• Perform basic weight, pressure, and component checks
• Identify damage, corrosion, or compliance issues
• Operate recharge equipment safely and keep the work area clean
• Tag, label, and document serviced extinguishers
• Follow safety procedures and assist shop or field teams as needed
