Job summary

The University of Missouri, Campus Facilities Operations, is seeking a Fire Equipment Technician I to perform maintenance, testing and inspection of campus fire alarm systems, fire suppression, and portable extinguishers. A valid driver's license is required; shifts run 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Qualifications

• Minimum: high school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preventative maintenance and repair, of all campus portable fire extinguishers, fire alarm systems and fire suppression system components including sprinkler systems, smoke detectors and fire alarm panels. Inspect, test, clean, maintain and keep records in accordance with NFPA standards.
• Assist with troubleshooting fire alarm systems and fire suppression system malfunctions.
• Respond to fires and/or fire alarms on campus. Perform liaison duties between MU campus personnel and local fire departments. Notify campus officials if there is a fire, the extent of the damage, and if campus departments must take any action following the extinguishment of the fire.
• Assist with building surveys to assure fire protection equipment and procedural compliance with NFPA, local and state laws and regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
