Job summary

University of Missouri-Columbia is seeking a Building Maintenance Mechanic within Campus Facilities Operations to perform semi-skilled maintenance and repair across multiple buildings. You will care for permanent and movable equipment, with complex issues referred to skilled trades staff as needed.

The role emphasizes safe, efficient maintenance and contribution to the university’s infrastructure. Work hours align with standard daytime shifts, and you will be part of a team dedicated to quality

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent.
• Four years of general building maintenance experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret diagrams.
• A valid driver’s license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain facility components (flooring, drywall, ceilings).
• Repair and maintain furniture and equipment (tables, chairs, charts, gas and electrical appliances).
• Repair and maintain plumbing systems (water softeners, restrooms, drains; replace faucets).
• Repair and maintain electrical fixtures (outlets, lighting, switches).
• Locate parts and prepare requests for purchase of parts and equipment; advise on purchases for consistency.
• Clean area upon completion; return materials and restore area to original state.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
