Job summary

Georgia Department of Public Safety is seeking a Public Safety Trainer 3 – Driver Operator to deliver statewide Fire & Rescue training. The role requires leading instructor activities, curriculum design, and robust customer service in a dynamic, safety‑focused environment.

Minimum qualifications include 3+ years in a fire service with at least 1 year as an instructor, plus appropriate Georgia POST/NPQ certifications. This is a day shift position with field training across Georgia.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ progressive experience with a fire service agency with at least 1 year experience as an instructor focused on the development and delivery of fire service training.
• Possession of Georgia P.O.S.T General Instructor certification or NPQ Instructor II is preferred.
• Certifications in NPQ Apparatus Operator – Pumper and – Aerial are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Instruct topics including Fire Apparatus Operator courses and Fire & Rescue.
• Participate in needs assessment, research, design and evaluation of statewide public safety training programs.
• Demonstrate teamwork and a high degree of customer service.
• Conduct year‑round training in all weather conditions with PPE (Full Turnout Gear).
• Stand, ride, drive, bend and squat for long periods as part of training delivery.
