Job summary

Elko County Fire Protection District is seeking a Training Officer to develop, coordinate, and execute a comprehensive training program for district personnel and volunteers. The role supports both paid staff and volunteers, with a focus on maintaining high competency levels across departments.

The Training Officer will plan long-term goals, implement policies, and evaluate training needs while performing firefighting duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Fire Science or a closely related field.
• Three years of firefighting/training experience.
• Experience as a Volunteer Firefighter or working with volunteer firefighters is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a master training schedule for the District.
• Assess training needs of District personnel and volunteers through investigation, consultation, and evaluation of requests for training programs.
• Develop justification to support recommendations as necessary.
• Develop and prepare or secure training materials, manuals, charts, and other visual aids for use in training.
