Job summary

Aspen Fire Protection District seeks a Division Chief of Training / Human Performance & Optimization to lead all training, wellness, and professional development. This executive role focuses on implementing a cohesive HPO model that integrates physical readiness, cognitive performance, and leadership development for the AFPD workforce.

The position reports to the Deputy Chief, guides three branches, and participates in incident command when required, while ensuring alignment with NFPA and ISO

Qualifications

  • Experience leading training and human performance programs in a public safety setting.
  • Ability to oversee budgets, personnel, and training facilities.
  • Strong strategic planning aligned with NFPA and ISO standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Training/HPO division, set vision, goals, and performance metrics.
  • Coordinate training, wellness, and professional development across all ranks.
  • Oversee budget, resources, and partnerships with external agencies.
  • Ensure compliance with NFPA, DFPC, and ISO PPC benchmarks.
  • Represent AFPD in regional training collaborations and incident response.
