Job summary

911 Emergency Communications is seeking fire dispatchers to coordinate responses for fires, rescues, and hazardous conditions. You will receive and document incident reports, verify locations, alert appropriate stations, and monitor ongoing incidents with clear radio communication.

Successful candidates will have a high school diploma or GED and may require fire dispatch or EMT training for certain assignments; familiarity with computer systems, maps, and radio operations is preferred.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED is commonly required.
• Fire dispatch certification or emergency medical dispatch training may be required for particular assignments.
• Experience with incident-management coursework may be beneficial.
• Comfort with maps and radio communication is expected.

Responsibilities

• Receive and document reports of fires, rescues, alarms, and hazardous conditions.
• Verify incident locations, access information, and reported risks.
• Alert stations and dispatch apparatus using approved response assignments.
• Monitor radio channels, unit availability, and incident status.
• Relay information about occupants, hazards, and changing conditions.
• Process requests for additional resources through established procedures.
• Coordinate mutual-aid communications when assigned.
• Record dispatch times, unit movements, and significant incident updates.
