Job summary

The City of Winston-Salem Fire Department seeks a Quartermaster to manage inventory, procure equipment, PPE, supplies, and medical items, and to store, distribute, and maintain materials needed for all functional areas.

Under the supervision of the Assistant Chief of Logistics, you will maintain records, conduct inventories, coordinate with vendors for cost efficiency, and ensure environmental conditions and readiness across stations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Five years' experience in inventory control, storekeeping, distribution, or procurement preferred.
• Experience in fire/EMS environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage inventory control systems and maintain records of receipts and disbursements.
• Procure supplies and equipment in accordance with city purchasing policies.
• Maintain departmental storage facilities and related areas.
• Assist in development of PPE specifications and fire/rescue supplies.
• Load/unload deliveries and deliver to stations as needed.
• Ensure appropriate environmental conditions in all areas of responsibility.
• Perform SCBA repair and fire apparatus pump testing tasks as needed.
