Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. seeks a Fire Construction Manager to oversee the daily management of fire alarm installation projects across commercial, industrial, education, healthcare and government environments.

You will coach technicians, manage scheduling and material planning, monitor performance, and ensure safety and quality on site. Strong project management and estimating skills, plus experience with Excel, are required.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of management experience in fire alarm installation, within the commercial industry.
• Fire alarm, access controls, and CCTV certifications.
• Project management experience and estimating experience.
• Proficiency with Excel and Microsoft products.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Join the Johnson Controls team and help deliver fire alarm construction projects that protect people, property, and critical operations. As part of our Fire business, you will support customers across commercial, industrial, education, healthcare, and government environments with life safety solutions that demand precision, coordination, and a strong focus on safety.

Role Overview

The Fire Construction Manager is responsible for the daily management of fire alarm installation projects. This role blends field leadership, project coordination, customer interaction, and financial oversight. You will coach and mentor technicians, support scheduling and material planning, monitor project performance, and help ensure work is delivered safely, on time, and to the expected standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the daily operations of construction installation projects for fire alarm systems.
• Coach and mentor technicians and apprentices to support quality execution and team development.
• Order materials and equipment and help ensure job readiness before site work begins.
• Monitor project financials, track labor hours, and provide accurate status updates during WIP meetings.
• Maintain installer schedules and coordinate with Operations to support project delivery.
• Attend construction meetings and communicate effectively with end-users, architects, and general contractors.
• Conduct jobsite safety walkthroughs, EHS evaluations, and accident investigations as needed.
• Set performance expectations, review progress with direct reports, and support hiring or evaluation activities when required.

• Lead with accountability and integrity, keeping safety at the center of every decision and every jobsite visit.
• Stay close to the work by being present in the field, removing obstacles quickly, and keeping customers informed.
• Build a strong, collaborative team by setting clear expectations, coaching performance, and encouraging open communication.
• Improve every day through practical problem-solving, candid feedback, and consistent follow-through on project actions.
• Work as one team with Operations, technicians, customers, and contractors to keep projects moving smoothly.
• Use disciplined planning and clear reporting to manage schedules, labor, materials, and financial performance.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years of management experience in Fire Alarm Installation within the commercial industry.
• Fire Alarm, Access Controls, and CCTV certifications.
• Project Management experience.
• Estimating experience.
• Experience or knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft products.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency using personal computers, including Windows 7/XP/NT/2000 or similar Windows-based systems.

Nice to Have

• NICET Certification Level 3 or greater.
• Knowledge of P&L.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $91K-$136K (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This role offers a competitive Bonus plan that will take into account individual, group, and corporate performance. This position includes a competitive benefits package.
