Job summary

City of Casper seeks an experienced Fire Chief to lead Casper Fire-EMS, set strategic direction, and ensure excellent service to the community. This role reports to the City Manager and collaborates with other city departments and agencies.

The Chief provides budget oversight, emergency management coordination with Natrona County, and represents the department in union negotiations and public relations. A strong leader will mentor staff and drive service improvements across operations.

Qualifications

• Five years of increasingly responsible experience in an organized Fire-EMS department.
• Minimum of three years of administrative and supervisory responsibility.
• Bachelors Degree in fire science, public administration or a closely related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Masters Degree is preferred.
• Completion of the National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer (EFO) Program is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Directs strategic direction and management over the Fire-EMS Department; develops staff and ensures training.
• Directs goals, policies and priorities; allocates resources and staffing.
• Monitors service delivery and implements process improvements.
• Represents the Fire-EMS Department to City officials, other agencies and the public.
• Plans and coordinates department work plans and budgets; responds to emergencies as needed.
• Prepares staff reports and negotiates with Local 904 during union negotiations.
