Job summary

The City of Casper, WY seeks a Fire Chief to provide strategic leadership for Casper Fire-EMS and guide the department into the future. The incumbent will direct operations, budgets, and staffing while representing the department in negotiations and community engagements.

Required are at least five years in a Fire-EMS leadership role, a relevant bachelor’s degree, and strong governance, communication, and budgeting expertise. A master’s degree is preferred; EFO is desirable.

Qualifications

  • Five years of increasingly responsible experience in an organized Fire-EMS department.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in fire science, public administration or a closely related field required.
  • Master’s Degree preferred; EFO program desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Exercises strategic direction and management authority over the Fire-EMS Department.
  • Directs development and implementation of department goals and staffing levels.
  • Directs budget planning, expenditures, and adjustments for the Fire-EMS Department.
  • Represents the department in negotiations with the Local 904 and city officials.
  • Plans and coordinates department performance and reporting; ensures public safety service delivery.
