Job summary

City of Beaumont seeks Fire Cadets to start a career path toward becoming a Beaumont Fire-Rescue firefighter. Cadets will train in academy and basic skills, including firefighting, rescue, EMS basics, while earning a salary.

The role is 100% on-site, with a 40-hour week, strength and agility testing, and a Texas Class C driver's license requirement. Health and dental insurance are provided; after academy completion, pay progresses with certification.

Qualifications

• Cadet applicants must have a GED or High School Diploma.
• Must possess a valid Class C Texas driver's license.
• Must pass a strength and agility test and physical examination.

Responsibilities

• Participates in independent study and formal instruction to become proficient as a Beaumont Fire-Rescue Firefighter.
• Responds to fire and other emergencies with appropriate equipment and techniques.
• Participates in fire drills, training, and related safety and rescue operations.
• Maintains equipment and adheres to department policies and procedures.
