We are seeking dedicated individuals to join us as full-time, on-site team members at our new factory in DeSoto, Kansas.

Job Summary: The Fire Brigade Technician – Level 4 is a key member of the internal fire brigade team, responsible for supporting fire prevention, emergency response, and life safety initiatives. This role ensures compliance with fire safety regulations, maintains firefighting equipment, and actively participates in emergency response operations. The Fire Technician promotes a strong safety culture by executing fire suppression tactics when necessary and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance fire risk mitigation strategies. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates strong organizational skills, and builds professional relationships to support emergency preparedness and response objectives.

Essential Duties:

  • Shift Coverage & Emergency Response: Provide 12-hour shift coverage, respond to HAZMAT and fire incidents, respond to Permit to Work requests, acquire site-specific hazard knowledge, and maintain respirator seal (must be clean-shaven).
  • Fire Brigade Training & Safety Education: Assist with training preparation, develop fire safety procedures, lead drills, mentor team members, educate personnel on RRT and ERT, conduct new hire training, and support ongoing safety education.
  • Equipment & Inventory Management: Conduct inspections, restock and maintain equipment, troubleshoot, work with vendors, and assist with respirator fit testing and cylinder refills.
  • Risk Management & Safety Compliance: Support data collection and trend analysis, hazard evaluation, safety procedures development, review safety data, participate in assessments and audits, and provide guidance.
  • General Responsibilities: Promote safety culture, perform activities responsibly, support Fire Systems staff and EHS, and perform other duties as needed.
  • Administrative: Back up Fire Supervisor, lead specific programs, attend meetings, and support other tasks.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Use PPE such as Tyvek suits, safety shoes, gloves, glasses, masks, and hazmat suits with respirators as required.

Qualifications: Requirements - Required and/or Preferred Education
  • Required: High school diploma, GED, or 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Preferred: Fire Science or equivalent BS Degree.
Essential Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of relevant emergency response experience.
  • Leadership skills and experience.
  • Emergency response training, FEMA courses, knowledge of firefighting tactics, ICS principles, proficiency in Microsoft 365, self-motivated, team-oriented, strong customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Industrial firefighting and manufacturing experience.
  • Understanding of OSHA 1910 standards.
Certifications and Licenses:
  • CPR, Firefighter 2, Confined Space Rescue, Fire Officer 1, Hazmat Technician (or experience).
Physical Demands

Activities include sitting (40%), walking (30%), standing (20%), lifting (10%), with occasional lifting of up to 35 lbs and no requirement for team lifts over 35 lbs.
