Job summary

The City of Alexandria is seeking a Fire Maintenance Supervisor to plan and supervise maintenance and repair of all vehicles for the Alexandria Fire Department. You will manage budgets, supervise mechanics, and coordinate vendor contracts while ensuring compliance with NFPA standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with automotive repair courses.
• Three-five years supervisory/maintenance management experience in the care, maintenance, diagnosis and repair of automotive equipment.
• Knowledge of NFPA Standards for fire apparatus and ambulances.
• Must complete Emergency Vehicle Operator Courses (I-IV) within first year of employment.
• Proficiency in diagnosing, repairing and preventive maintenance of automotive electrical, brake, engine, and HVAC systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage Fire Maintenance Shop budget and procurement, including contracts with outside vendors.
• Supervise mechanic staff in repair and servicing of department vehicles; schedule work and ensure quality.
• Coordinate and evaluate contracted repairs and verify charges.
• Monitor warranties, recalls, and preventative maintenance programs.
• Oversee fueling sites, inventory, reporting, and procurement processes.
