Job summary

Thompson Safety is seeking a Fire Alarm Technician to install, test, inspect, service, and repair fire alarm systems. You will travel to customer sites, respond to emergencies, and complete inspection and service reports.

The role requires basic electrical knowledge, the ability to read schematics, and strong problem-solving. A driver’s license and background check are required. DOE for entry-level training assistance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; technical certifications preferred.
• Knowledge of basic electricity and ability to read electrical schematics.
• Proven experience as Fire Alarm Technician preferred.
• Willing to support training for entry-level candidates.
• Familiarity with NFPA 72, NEC and local fire codes preferred.
• Reading and interpreting blueprints/schematics and technical manuals preferred.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass drug and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer locations to install, service, and upgrade fire alarm systems.
• Respond to emergencies and maintain safety.
• Perform annual and semi-annual inspections of life safety systems.
• Prepare inspection and service reports; note deficiencies.
• Troubleshoot faults and diagnose issues in fire alarm systems.
• Coordinate system upgrades, modifications, and expansions.
• Collaborate with customers, contractors, and team members for effective installations.
• Maintain accurate service and inventory records.
• Provide technical support on system operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Stay updated on industry trends, codes, and technologies.
