Bonneville Contracting & Technology Group LLC (“Bonneville Group”) is seeking a qualified Fire Alarm Technician to install, program, maintain, and troubleshoot commercial and institutional fire alarm systems throughout Puerto Rico and, as needed, the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, terminate, test, and label fire alarm wiring, including initiating, notification, signaling, and communication circuits.
- Install fire alarm control panels, annunciators, smoke and heat detectors, pull stations, monitor and control modules, horn/strobes, speakers, and related equipment.
- Program and configure systems manufactured by Potter, Fire-Lite, Gamewell-FCI, and other major fire alarm manufacturers.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, riser diagrams, wiring diagrams, specifications, and device schedules.
- Perform system testing, commissioning, preventive maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting.
- Identify ground faults, open circuits, communication failures, defective devices, programming errors, and other system deficiencies.
- Verify proper integration with sprinkler, HVAC, elevator, access-control, mass-notification, and other building systems.
- Maintain accurate records of programming, device addresses, test results, deficiencies, service activities, and as-built conditions.
- Coordinate professionally with customers, inspectors, general contractors, subcontractors, engineers, and project managers.
- Clearly explain system conditions, required repairs, and recommended corrective actions to customers.
- Follow applicable NFPA standards, manufacturer requirements, project specifications, and workplace safety procedures.
- Maintain tools, testing equipment, company vehicles, and assigned materials in good condition.
- Participate in emergency service calls and after-hours work when required.
Required Qualifications
- Experience installing, servicing, or programming commercial fire alarm systems.
- Knowledge of low-voltage wiring, electrical fundamentals, and fire alarm circuits.
- Ability to program or willingness to obtain training on Potter, Fire-Lite, Gamewell-FCI, and similar platforms.
- Ability to use multimeters and other diagnostic and testing equipment.
- Ability to read plans, schematics, technical manuals, and project specifications.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent customer-service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with field and project-management teams.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to completing accurate documentation.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to lift equipment, use ladders, work above ceilings, and perform duties in active construction environments.
- Availability to travel within Puerto Rico and, when required, to the U.S. Virgin Islands.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- NICET certification in Fire Alarm Systems.
- Manufacturer certifications for Potter, Fire-Lite, Gamewell-FCI, Notifier, or similar systems.
- OSHA safety training.
- Experience with voice-evacuation, mass-notification, networked fire alarm, and public-address systems.
- Familiarity with NFPA 70, NFPA 72, and applicable local and federal requirements.
- Experience working on commercial, government, military, educational, healthcare, or industrial facilities.
