Job summary

Piper Fire Protection in Clearwater, FL is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Installation Technician to join our team. Responsibilities include installing, programming, testing, and servicing commercial fire alarm systems while ensuring safety, quality, and customer service.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of hands-on installation experience, knowledge of NFPA 72/70, ability to read drawings, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years installing, servicing, or maintaining commercial fire alarm systems.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 72, NFPA 70 (NEC), and local codes.
  • Experience reading construction drawings and wiring diagrams.
  • Ability to troubleshoot fire alarm systems and identify deficiencies.
  • Strong organizational skills and multi-tasking ability.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work safely on ladders, lifts, and active construction sites.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot, service, and inspect commercial fire alarm systems per NFPA and codes.
  • Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Install wiring, terminations, and test devices for new construction and retrofit projects.
  • Program, configure, and commission fire alarm panels and devices.
  • Conduct inspections and functional testing for compliance.
  • Diagnose deficiencies and document all work.
  • Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and customers to meet schedules.
  • Provide recommendations on performance, upgrades, and maintenance.
  • Maintain service reports and inspection records.
  • Ensure safety policies and maintain clean worksites and vehicles.
  • Deliver excellent customer service through professional communication and support.

Job Summary:

Piper Fire Protection is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Installation Technician to join our team in Clearwater, Florida. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience installing, programming, testing, and servicing commercial fire alarm systems while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and customer service. This position offers the opportunity to work on a variety of commercial projects alongside a team dedicated to protecting lives and property.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Install, troubleshoot, service, and inspect commercial fire alarm systems in accordance with NFPA standards, local codes, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Perform device installation, wiring, terminations, and system testing for new construction and retrofit projects.
  • Program, configure, and commission fire alarm control panels and associated devices.
  • Conduct system inspections and functional testing to ensure proper operation and code compliance.
  • Diagnose and repair system deficiencies and document all work performed.
  • Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and customers to ensure projects are completed on schedule.
  • Provide recommendations regarding system performance, upgrades, and maintenance requirements.
  • Maintain accurate service reports, installation documentation, and inspection records.
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and maintain a clean and professional work environment, including company vehicles and job sites.
  • Deliver excellent customer service through professional communication and technical support.
  • Work independently and as part of a team while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience installing, servicing, or maintaining commercial fire alarm systems.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 72, NFPA 70 (NEC), and applicable local fire and building codes.
  • Experience reading construction drawings, wiring diagrams, and system layouts.
  • Ability to troubleshoot fire alarm systems and identify system deficiencies.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work safely on ladders, lifts, and active construction sites.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work as required.
  • Ability to meet company driving eligibility requirements, including holding a valid driver’s license and maintaining an acceptable motor vehicle record.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience programming fire alarm systems such as Notifier, Silent Knight, Gamewell-FCI, Honeywell, Edwards, Siemens, or Fire-Lite.
  • NICET Certification in Fire Alarm Systems (Level I, II, or higher).
  • Experience with low-voltage systems including Access Control, CCTV, Burglar Alarm, or Security Systems.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • Experience working in commercial, healthcare, education, industrial, or multi-site environments.
