Job summary

IES Electrical, a unit of IES Commercial, Inc., seeks a Fire Alarm Helper in Suffolk, VA to assist experienced technicians in installing and testing fire alarm systems. The role involves routing low-voltage wiring, mounting conduits, and ensuring safe, compliant work practices on site.

Candidates should have at least 6 months of fire alarm/electrical experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and be able to obtain OSHA 10. Travel may be required, and background/MVR checks apply.

Qualifications

• 6 months of recent fire alarm/electrical experience.
• OSHA 10 or ability to obtain.
• Pass pre-employment background check and MVR when operating vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Assist in installing fire alarm system components and wiring.
• Pull, label, and route low‑voltage cabling as directed.
• Assist with mounting and installation of conduits, wires and straps.
• Support testing, inspection, and troubleshooting under supervision.
• Maintain tools, materials, and job site cleanliness.
• Work from ladders and follow safety policies.
