Job summary

Oliver Fire Protection & Security is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Systems Lead Designer to join our Design team. Located in Lebanon, NJ, you will produce high-quality fire alarm, mass notification, and security system designs supporting project teams from design through closeout.

In this role you will design systems in AutoCAD, communicate with customers and project managers, perform calculations, prepare submittals, and help ensure adherence to codes and standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 5+ years of experience as a fire alarm designer.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and the ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.
• Microsoft Office experience, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to multitask successfully.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Design fire alarm, mass notification, and security alarm systems in AutoCAD for shop and record drawings.
• Communicate with customers, the Design Manager, sales team members, and project managers to provide status updates on assigned projects.
• Perform battery and voltage drop calculations for fire alarm systems.
• Prepare submittal packages, including drawings, calculations, and datasheets for permitting.
• Support contract sales efforts by reviewing plans, specifications, and bids for technical accuracy and best practices.
• Participate in weekly design meetings and job kick-off meetings when requested.
• Assist entry- to mid-level designers when requested by the Design Manager.
• Maintain knowledge of current materials, design techniques, installation practices, and applicable alarm system code requirements.
• Prepare and submit O&M packages, RFIs, permit drawings, documentation, applications, and transmittal forms in a timely manner.
• Perform site surveys to gather project information as needed.

• Experience participating in industry organizations related to alarm system design or code requirements preferred.
