Job description

We have an outstanding career opportunity for a Fire Alarm Service Technician to join a leading company located in the Washington, DC surrounding area.

Salary: $58,240 - 68,640

US Citizenship is required. Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

The Fire Alarm Service Technician 1 is responsible for performing inspections, testing, troubleshooting, repairs, and service of fire alarm systems to uphold safety and compliance standards. The technician will work under the guidance of senior technicians or supervisors to develop expertise in fire alarm systems and related technologies.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine inspections and functional testing of fire alarm systems, ensuring compliance with NFPA 72 and local standards.
  • Test and troubleshoot initiating devices, notification appliances, and system components, addressing malfunctions or deficiencies.
  • Assist in inspections and testing of interconnected systems, including elevators, HVAC shutdown, and fire doors.
  • Document all service activities, including inspection results and repairs, and complete testing reports with noted deficiencies.
  • Communicate system performance and deficiencies to customers and account managers for accurate quoting of recommended repairs.
  • Collaborate with senior technicians and supervisors to learn advanced fire alarm system technologies and best practices.
  • Assist in the installation, maintenance, and upgrade of fire alarm systems, and determine materials needed for repairs.
  • Respond promptly to service calls and emergency situations, adhering to safety protocols and maintaining compliance standards.

Basic Hiring Criteria:
  • Minimum of a high school diploma and three years of related experience or two years of a technology degree and one year of related experience.
  • NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level I or pass the NICET I exam within 90 days of employment.
  • Ability to obtain US Clearance, minimum DoD Secret Clearance.
  • Position is subject to an additional customer background check.
  • Position may require up to 15% travel throughout the United States.
