Job summary

Century Fire Protection is seeking an experienced fire alarm technician to install, test, inspect, and service alarm systems. You will program and commission new systems, read manuals, and educate customers on maintenance while ensuring compliance with codes.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in electrical construction, NEC/NFPA 72 knowledge, and Notifier experience; NICET I/II preferred. Company laptop/tablet provided, plus extensive benefits and training.

Qualifications

  • Associate or technical degree with 5+ years of electrical construction experience.
  • Knowledge of NEC and NFPA 72; Notifier experience preferred; NICET I/II preferred.

  • Layout, assemble and install low voltage equipment for fire alarm systems; ensure code compliance.
  • Test features and equipment for optimum function; perform inspections and diagnose problems.
  • Read and follow product manuals; educate customers on care and maintenance.
  • Write and submit customer status and completion reports.
  • Oversee and direct helpers and/or installers.

Job description

Overview

Responsible for fire alarm installations, retrofits, and tenant build-outs, testing, servicing, inspection and repair; performing on-site emergency troubleshooting programming, identifying code and non-conformance issues, and preparing accurate and timely service tickets and reports.

Responsibilities
  • Program and commission newly installed fire alarm systems.
  • Layout, assemble and install low voltage equipment for fire alarm systems, ensuring work complies with relevant codes and regulations.
  • Test all features and equipment to ensure optimum functioning.
  • Perform inspections and diagnose any problems.
  • Read, understand, and follow product manuals and educate customers on care and maintenance of systems.
  • Write and submit customer status and completion reports.
  • Oversee and direct helpers and/or installers.
Qualifications
  • Associate or technical degree and 5+ years of experience or equivalent education and experience; including electrical construction including wiring and conduit installation; knowledge of NEC (National Electric Code) and NFPA 72; experience with Notifier and NICET I or II preferred.
  • Basic computer skills; experience with laptop and/or iPad.
