Job summary

Century Fire Protection Greenwood is seeking an experienced fire alarm technician to install, retrofit and service systems at customer sites in Greenwood, SC. You will test, troubleshoot on-site and provide clear service tickets and reports.

Requirements include an Associate or technical degree with 5+ years in electrical construction, NEC/NFPA 72 knowledge, and Notifier/NICET I or II preferred. Up to 25% travel is possible, with opportunities for growth and training.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of NEC and NFPA 72; wiring and conduit installation.
• Experience with Notifier and NICET I or II preferred.

Responsibilities

• Program and commission fire alarm systems.
• Layout and install low voltage equipment per codes.
• Test features and equipment for operation.
• Inspect and diagnose system problems.
• Educate customers on system care.
• Submit status and completion reports.
• Supervise installers and helpers.

Summary

Responsible for fire alarm installations, retrofits, and tenant build-outs, testing, servicing, inspection and repair; performing on-site emergency troubleshooting programming, identifying code and non-conformance issues, and preparing accurate and timely service tickets and reports.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Program and commission newly installed fire alarm systems.
• Layout, assemble and install, low voltage equipment for fire alarm systems, ensuring work complies with relevant codes and regulations.
• Test all features and equipment to ensure optimum functioning.
• Perform inspections and diagnose any problems.
• Read, understand, and follow product manuals and educate customers on care and maintenance of systems.
• Write and submit customer status and completion reports.
• Oversee and direct helpers and/or installers.

Education and/or Experience

Associate or technical degree and 5+ years of experience or equivalent education and experience; including electrical construction including wiring and conduit installation; knowledge of NEC (National Electric Code) and NFPA 72; experience with Notifier and NICET I or II preferred.

Computer Skills

Basic computer skills; experience working with laptop and/or iPad.
