Job summary

Century Fire Protection in Clearwater, FL is seeking a skilled fire alarm technician responsible for installations, retrofits, testing, servicing, and inspections of fire alarm systems. The role includes on-site troubleshooting, programming, and ensuring code compliance with NEC and NFPA 72.

The position requires an associate or technical degree with 5+ years of related experience, including electrical construction and wiring. NICET I/II and experience with Notifier are preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate or technical degree required; 5+ years of experience or equivalent education.
• Knowledge of NEC and NFPA 72 is preferred.
• Experience with Notifier systems and NICET I or II is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Program and commission fire alarm systems.
• Lay out, assemble and install low voltage equipment for fire alarm systems.
• Test features and equipment for optimum functioning.
• Perform inspections and diagnose problems.
• Educate customers on care and maintenance of systems.
• Submit customer status and completion reports.
• Oversee and direct helpers/installers.

Overview

Location: Century Fire Protection, Clearwater, FL 33760 • Position Type: Full Time • Travel: Up to 25%.

Summary

Responsible for fire alarm installations, retrofits, and tenant build-outs, testing, servicing, inspection and repair; performing on-site emergency troubleshooting, programming, identifying code and non-conformance issues, and preparing accurate and timely service tickets and reports.

Responsibilities

• Program and commission newly installed fire alarm systems.
• Layout, assemble and install low voltage equipment for fire alarm systems, ensuring work complies with relevant codes and regulations.
• Test all features and equipment to ensure optimum functioning.
• Perform inspections and diagnose any problems.
• Read, understand, and follow product manuals and educate customers on care and maintenance of systems.
• Write and submit customer status and completion reports.
• Oversee and direct helpers and/or installers.

Education and Experience

Associate or technical degree and 5+ years of experience or equivalent education and experience; including electrical construction including wiring and conduit installation; knowledge of NEC (National Electric Code) and NFPA 72; experience with Notifier and NICET I or II preferred.

Computer Skills

Basic computer skills; experience working with laptop and/or iPad.
