Job summary

Sciens Building Solutions is seeking an experienced Fire Service Technician in Vermont with programming, troubleshooting, and repair capabilities. This role partners with our service team and clients to ensure life safety systems are repaired efficiently and reliably.

The ideal candidate brings knowledge of fire alarm systems, NFPA 72, and the ability to program via laptop, with strong communication and customer-facing skills.

Qualifications

• Two to five years of experience in a repair or systems technician role within the Fire Life and Safety industry.
• Knowledge of current fire alarm systems, including smoke control, GUIs, and networked solutions.
• Demonstrable knowledge of Fire Alarm circuit integrity and troubleshooting for opens/shorts/grounding.
• Ability to program and repair fire alarm systems using a laptop computer.
• Knowledge of NFPA 72 code requirements.
• Intermediate knowledge of Article 760 of NFPA 70 for installation of fire systems.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and ability to obtain OSHA 10.
• Ability to read fire system design drawings.
• Proficient in using standard trade tools.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshooting and repairing Fire and Life Safety systems, including conventional, addressable, voice, smoke control, and networked solutions.
• Use troubleshooting tools to analyze systems and detect fault conditions.
• Ensure maximum detection and alarm coverage when repairing.
• Produce repair reports in accordance with NFPA for customer acceptance and billing.
• Programming systems via laptop computers.
• Ensure Fire Alarm circuit integrity.
• Assist in managing vehicle inventory and repair tools.
• Provide support and guidance to other technicians.
