We are currently looking for a skilled Fire Alarm / Security Systems Technician to manage the installation, maintenance, diagnostics, configuration, and verification of commercial electronic security and fire alarm infrastructure.

This role is a great fit for professionals with practical expertise in fire alarm, access control, intrusion detection, IP video/CCTV, or commercial low-voltage systems who enjoy autonomous work, resolving complex system issues, and engaging directly with our clients.

The work is mostly local or regional, requiring about 20–30% travel. While standard daytime hours are the norm, you should be prepared for occasional night or flexible shifts to accommodate specific project or client needs.

Core Responsibilities

Execute the installation, maintenance, repair, and modernization of commercial fire alarm, access control, intrusion alarm, and IP video systems
Configure and set up fire alarm control panels and their related components
Help ensure total site safety by verifying that fire alarm systems and components function correctly and meet all regulatory standards
Set up access control hardware including card readers, door contacts, request-to-exit sensors, electric strikes, maglocks, and control panels
Deploy and diagnose intrusion detection and IP video/CCTV hardware
Manage the pulling, routing, terminating, labeling, and testing of low-voltage cabling
Perform structural pathway tasks, such as drilling into concrete and minor conduit bending
Support facility security by installing sensors and devices in commercial environments, including tasks requiring ladders or lifts
Analyze and utilize blueprints, site maps, wiring diagrams, electrical layouts, and system schematics
Help maintain system integrity by troubleshooting new and existing setups to resolve wiring, programming, communication, or equipment faults
Validate and test systems to ensure they are fully operational before handing them over to the client
Provide support for technical planning and pre-installation preparation
Deliver technical escalation assistance both remotely and on-site
Collaborate with Installation Team Leads and Project Managers to manage schedules, equipment, and project requirements
Document all completed work accurately
Help maintain a safe working environment for the entire team by ensuring installations adhere to local, state, federal, electrical, fire, and life-safety requirements
Follow all safety protocols established by the company, the client, and OSHA

Required Qualifications

Practical commercial field experience with one or more of the following: Fire alarm systems, Access control systems, Intrusion alarm systems, Electronic security systems, IP video / CCTV, or Commercial low-voltage systems
Demonstrated ability to independently install, test, troubleshoot, and service low-voltage systems
Proven experience interpreting blueprints, wiring diagrams, site plans, and electrical layouts
Strong understanding of low-voltage wiring, terminations, devices, control panels, and system communications
Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including NFPA 70 and NFPA 72
Proficiency with meters, hand tools, power tools, drills, and standard low-voltage installation equipment
Ability and willingness to work from lifts at heights of approximately 20–60 feet
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Strong customer-service and communication skills
Comfortable working independently at customer locations
Proficiency with smartphones, laptops, email, spreadsheets, and electronic work-management systems
Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements
Reliable transportation during the initial training period before a company vehicle is issued
Basic PPE and appropriate technician tools

Certifications and Licensing

NICET certification is strongly preferred
Current state-required Life Safety, Fire Alarm, Physical Security, or related license, where required for the work being performed
Additional manufacturer certifications are a plus

Candidates with strong hands‑on commercial experience are encouraged to apply even if they do not currently hold every preferred certification.

Preferred Technical Experience

Experience with multiple manufacturers or platforms is a strong plus, including systems such as:

Fire Alarm: Notifier, Fire‑Lite, Simplex, EST/Edwards, Siemens, Gamewell‑FCI, Silent Knight, Honeywell, Bosch, or similar systems

Access Control / Security: LenelS2, Genetec, Software House/CCURE, Avigilon, AMAG, Brivo, DMP, Honeywell, Bosch, HID, or similar systems

Experience with a specific manufacturer is not required if you have strong transferable fire alarm, security, electrical, or low-voltage experience.

Travel and Schedule

Approximately 20–30% travel
Primarily day shift, generally around 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Some night, weekend, or off-shift work may be required based on customer or project needs
Occasional overnight travel
Must be comfortable working at active commercial job sites
