Job summary

Colonial Group in Lenexa, KS is seeking a Fire Alarm Technician responsible for installation, troubleshooting, inspection and maintenance of electrical fire alarm systems, and communicating system performance to customers.

You will read blueprints, supervise installations, install and program panels, diagnose faults, and support preventive maintenance while adhering to safety programs. NICET certification and 5+ years’ experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• At least five (5) years experience in testing, maintenance, and service of fire alarm systems; experience with access control and CCTV is a plus.
• Industry experience as apprentice electrician or low voltage technician; leadership experience to instruct installation assistants.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications and schematics.
• Supervise and inspect the installation of equipment to meet customer specifications.
• Install, program, test and commission fire alarm systems and components.
• Perform wiring and installation tasks using hand and power tools.
• continually learn about new products, upgrades, and software related to fire and security systems.
• Evaluate and diagnose equipment requiring service and troubleshoot problems.
• Provide solutions to customers on cost-efficient methods to restore operation.
• Assist with preventive maintenance of customer equipment.
• Accurately track time sheets, service/installation tickets and inventory items.
• Comply with safety programs and company policies.
