Shambaugh & Son in Fort Wayne, IN is seeking a Fire Alarm Service Technician to inspect, test, install, commission, troubleshoot and repair fire alarm systems in commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities. You will read project docs, program system products, and coordinate with customers to ensure safety and code compliance.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, technical training, and experience with low voltage fire/life safety systems.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of High School Diploma/GED; 2-4 year degree in a technical field from accredited college or university
  • NICET Certification preferred
  • Experience with Fire/Life Safety Systems, low voltage installations, and related devices

Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of fire alarm, suppression and releasing systems and devices
  • Read and interpret project documentation and work orders; determine if additional information is needed
  • Manage daily call activity and program system products, including networking and programming
  • Use testing tools such as multi-meters, analyzers, and meters to verify system operation
  • Read blueprints, diagrams, software, and manuals; ensure compliance with standards
  • Prepare paperwork for customer service activities and site records
  • Other duties as assigned
