Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. in New York is seeking an Installation Helper to assist with electronic system installations and support senior technicians on-site. Responsibilities include reading complex blueprints, handling equipment up to 70 lbs, and following safety protocols.

• Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
• Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult position such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
• Demonstrate a high level of customer service.
• Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and an ability to learn quickly.

Responsibilities

• Assist the responsible person in performing required duties for installation tasks.
• Observe and apply instructions from the responsible person(s).
• Help with installation of electronic systems from start to finish, including startup and final testing.
• Read and follow complex blueprints, diagrams and specifications.
• Carry/move equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
• Work in ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet; sometimes in ducts and crawl spaces.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area; dispose of trash.
• Wear safety equipment as required; may work alternate shifts or weekends.
• Submit required paperwork daily.

What you will do

Assists the responsible person in performing the required duties for completion of install related tasks for electronic product lines and standard electronic systems. Observes the actions of the responsible person(s) and applies as directed.

How you will do it

Helping with installation of electronic systems, including start up through final testing. Follow verbal and written instruction, read and understand complex construction blueprints, diagrams and specifications used in installation activities.

Carry/move equipment and tools weighing up to 40 pounds. Perform work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet or more.

Maintain a clean and safe work area. Pick up and properly dispose of all trash associated with SimplexGrinnell work.

Wear appropriate safety equipment as required, including but not limited to hard hats and work boots. May be required to work alternate shifts or weekends to meet customer installation requirements.

Perform other duties as requested.

Daily submission of required paperwork.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $19-$26 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience,knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with marketdata.)
