Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking an installation assistant to support fire alarm and security system work. You will assist technicians, read blueprints, and help with startup and testing of electronic systems.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, 1 year of relevant experience, ability to lift up to 40 pounds, and a valid driver's license. A drug screen and background check are required. Competitive benefits offered.

Qualifications

• 1 year of Fire Alarm and/or Security System experience; FAL license preferred — must be able to obtain it within 6 months.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Follow verbal and written instructions, read and understand complex construction blueprints, diagrams and specifications used in installation activities.
• Construction experience required.
• Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Successful completion of drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

• Assist the responsible person in performing the required duties for installation tasks and testing.
• Observe and apply instructions for installation of electronic systems.
• Carry/move equipment and tools up to 40 pounds.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area; wear safety gear as needed.
• May work alternate shifts or weekends to meet customer needs.
• Submit required daily paperwork.

What you will do

Assists the responsible person in performing the required duties for completion of install related tasks for electronic product lines and standard electronic systems. Observes the actions of the responsible person(s) and applies as directed.

How you will do it

Helping with installation of electronic systems, including start up through final testing. Follow verbal and written instruction, read and understand complex construction blueprints, diagrams and specifications used in installation activities. Carry/move equipment and tools weighing up to 40 pounds. Perform work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet or more. Maintain a clean and safe work area. Pick up and properly dispose of all trash associated with SimplexGrinnell work. Wear appropriate safety equipment as required, including but not limited to hard hats and work boots. May be required to work alternate shifts or weekends to meet customer installation requirements. Perform other duties as requested. Daily submission of required paperwork.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $19-25 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
