Job summary

Johnson Controls in Austin, TX is hiring for an entry-level Fire Alarm and Security Systems Installer. You will assist the responsible person with installation tasks, interpret blueprints, and support startup through testing on electronic product lines.

Ideal candidates have 1 year of fire alarm or security experience, a valid driver's license, and the ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 40 pounds. Training and safety gear provided.

Qualifications

• 1 year of Fire Alarm and/or Security System experience.
• FAL license preferred— must be able to obtain it within 6 months.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Follow verbal and written instructions, read and understand complex construction blueprints, diagrams and specifications used in installation activities.
• Construction experience required.
• Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Successful completion of drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation of electronic systems and perform startup through testing.

• Maintain a clean, safe work area and dispose of trash properly.
• Move equipment and tools weighing up to 40 pounds; climb ladders or scaffolding.
• Wear safety gear and may work alternate shifts or weekends.

What You Will Do

Assists the responsible person in performing the required duties for completion of install related tasks for electronic product lines and standard electronic systems.

Observes the actions of the responsible person(s) and applies as directed.

How You Will Do It

Helping with installation of electronic systems, including start up through final testing. Follow verbal and written instruction, read and understand complex construction blueprints, diagrams and specifications used in installation activities.

Carry/move equipment and tools weighing up to 40 pounds. Perform work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet or more.

Maintain a clean and safe work area. Pick up and properly dispose of all trash associated with SimplexGrinnell work.

Wear appropriate safety equipment as required, including but not limited to hard hats and work boots. May be required to work alternate shifts or weekends to meet customer installation requirements.

Perform other duties as requested.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $19-25 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
