Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a Fire Alarm Designer to create safe, efficient fire alarm systems based on codes and standards. You will analyze building layouts, conduct site surveys, and develop detailed CAD plans for installations. Strong communication with clients and officials is essential.

The role emphasizes collaboration with architects and engineers, interpretation of blueprints, and staying current with industry advancements to ensure optimal system performance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• NICET Certification in Fire Alarm Systems (Level II minimum) preferred.
• Experience with Notifier, Siemens, Firelite, or Silent Knight fire alarm systems.
• AutoCAD and Blue Beam experience preferred; other drafting programs may be considered.
• Professional business communications skills, both written and oral.

Responsibilities

• Conducting site surveys to assess fire risks and building layouts.
• Collaboration with architects, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements
• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and codes.
• Prepare shop drawings/plans using AutoCAD that meet applicable codes and manufacturer requirements.
• Utilizing CAD software to develop detailed schematics and plans for fire alarm installations.

• Communicate with local officials, engineers, architects, and customers.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, submittals, specifications, manufacturers manuals, and codes to produce designs and submittals for review.
• Stay updated on advancements in fire alarm technology and regulations.
• Other duties as assigned by manager.

The Fire Alarm Designer will contribute to the creation of safe and efficient fire alarm systems. The Fire Alarm Designer will utilize expertise in fire safety codes, engineering principles, and industry standards to design customized fire alarm systems tailored to our clients' needs. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a passion for enhancing fire safety in various environments.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Conducting site surveys to assess fire risks and building layouts.
• Collaboration with architects, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements
• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and codes.
• Prepare shop drawings/plans using AutoCAD that meet applicable codes and manufacturer requirements.
• Utilizing computer-aided design (CAD) software to develop detailed schematics and plans for fire alarm installations.
• Prepare submittals and material lists.
• Communicate with local officials, engineers, architects, and customers.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, submittals, specifications, manufacturers manuals, and codes to produce designs and submittals to be reviewed by local officials.
• Remain updated on advancements in fire alarm technology and regulations to ensure compliance and optimal system performance.
• Other duties as assigned by manager.

Education/Qualification

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred.
• NICET Certification in Fire Alarm Systems (Level II minimum preferred).
• Experience with Notifier, Siemens, Firelite, or Silent Knight fire alarm systems.
• AutoCAD and Blue Beam experience preferred.
• Other drafting programs may be considered.
• Possess professional business communications skills, both written and oral.

Compensation

• $60,000.00 - $100,00.00 depending on experience
