Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety, LLC is seeking a Fire Alarm Designer to contribute to customized fire alarm system designs and safety commitments. You will read blueprints, coordinate with architects, engineers, and clients, and prepare shop drawings in AutoCAD to meet codes and manufacturer requirements.

The ideal candidate will have NICET Level II or higher, a related bachelor’s degree preferred, and experience with Notifier, Siemens, Firelite or Silent Knight systems.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred.
• NICET Level II Fire Alarm Certification preferred.
• Experience with Notifier, Siemens, Firelite, or Silent Knight fire alarm systems.
• AutoCAD experience preferred.
• Other drafting programs may be considered.
• Possess professional business communications skills, both written and oral.
• Be a self-starter, organized, and a team player.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site surveys to assess fire risks and building layouts.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements.
• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and codes.
• Prepare shop drawings/plans using AutoCAD that meet applicable codes and manufacturer requirements.
• Utilize CAD software to develop detailed schematics and plans for fire alarm installations.
• Prepare submittals and material lists.
• Communicate with local officials, engineers, architects, and customers.
• Read and interpret blueprints, submittals, specifications, manufacturers manuals, and codes for designs and submittals.
• Remain updated on advancements in fire alarm technology and regulations to ensure compliance and optimal system performance.
• Other duties as assigned by manager.

The Fire Alarm Designer will contribute to the creation of safe and efficient fire alarm systems. The Fire Alarm Designer will utilize expertise in fire safety codes, engineering principles, and industry standards to design customized fire alarm systems tailored to our clients' needs. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a passion for enhancing fire safety in various environments.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Conducting site surveys to assess fire risks and building layouts.
• Collaboration with architects, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements
• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and codes.
• Prepare shop drawings/plans using AutoCAD that meet applicable codes and manufacturer requirements.
• Utilizing computer-aided design (CAD) software to develop detailed schematics and plans for fire alarm installations.
• Prepare submittals and material lists.
• Communicate with local officials, engineers, architects, and customers.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, submittals, specifications, manufacturers manuals, and codes to produce designs and submittals to be reviewed by local officials.
• Remain updated on advancements in fire alarm technology and regulations to ensure compliance and optimal system performance.
• Other duties as assigned by manager.
• Other Duties: Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Qualification

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred.
• NICET 3 Certification in Fire Alarm Systems (Level II minimum preferred).
• Experience with Notifier, Siemens, Firelite, or Silent Knight fire alarm systems.
• AutoCAD experience preferred.
• Other drafting programs may be considered.
• Possess professional business communications skills, both written and oral.
• Self-learner, self-motivated, dedicated, organized, and a team player.
• Must have good communication and organization skills.
• Be able to develop and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and accomplish tasks in a timely and safe manner.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Compensation

$40 - $60 hourly depending on industry experience
