Job description

FIRE ALARM COMMISSIONING TECHNICIAN

The Suppression System Incorporated (SSI) is seeking a Commissioning Technician responsible for programming, testing, and certifying various Fire Alarm Systems and equipment. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, analytical problem-solver capable of making independent, responsible, and proficient decisions to ensure customers receive fully functioning fire protection systems.

Position Responsibilities

  1. Program fire alarm and fire suppression intelligent systems.
  2. Install panel boards, transformers, and batteries; complete all terminations at control panels and power supplies.
  3. Troubleshoot wiring issues and defective modules in the field.
  4. Conduct full functional testing of all control panels, including conventional and intelligent systems.
  5. Perform room integrity assessments and testing.
  6. Conduct puff and pressure testing.
  7. Attend project commissioning meetings.
  8. Complete as-built drawings and documentation for project managers upon completion.
  9. Perform final testing with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).
  10. Provide technical support to Service, Construction, Sales, Engineering, and Project Management teams.
  11. Maintain professional appearance, attitude, and relationships with customers and colleagues.
  12. Keep assigned company vehicle clean and well-maintained.
Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two years of technical training and 3-4 years of field troubleshooting experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of Fire Alarm and Fire Suppression systems.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to read and understand isometric and electrical drawings.
  • Willingness to travel, including overnight out-of-town work.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening, background check, and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related technical field or equivalent experience.
  • NICET Certification in Fire Alarm Systems, Special Hazard Systems, or Emergency Responder Communication Enhancement Systems.
