Job summary

MetroPower is seeking a Technician 1, Fire Alarm to install fire alarm cabling and devices, read blueprints, and ensure safety and code compliance on diverse job sites. You will support high-quality on-time installations while collaborating with field teams to deliver reliable solutions and strong customer service.

The role requires basic fire alarm knowledge, tool use, and a commitment to safety and professionalism across various environments.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (or equivalent) required
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams) is a plus
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

Responsibilities

• Inspect work areas and complete Job Hazard Analysis prior to starting work to ensure a safe jobsite and compliance with company safety standards
• Review and plan daily tasks, scheduling, equipment, tools, and material needs to maintain project efficiency and quality
• Analyze blueprints and prepare for upcoming tasks by anticipating equipment, procedures, and training needs
• Run new cabling in new or existing buildings
• Install and terminate fire alarm devices
• Troubleshoot technical issues and hardware components at various locations to ensure system functionality and performance
• Operate necessary vehicles, tools, and equipment as required by job specifications
• Increase knowledge of fire alarm codes and standards
• Communicate professionally with customers, team members, permitting authorities, and vendors
• Demonstrate effective problem-solving skills, initiative, and creativity in fieldwork
• Pre-plan and identify the methods to eliminate hazards daily by work task
• Execute skill in observing habits and hazards of others and bringing it to their attention
• Uphold safety as the most important goal of our company and support the goal of zero accidents
• Promote open communication between field and office regarding safety concerns, suggestions, improvements, and PPE needed
• Obtain safety training as expected by all company personnel
