Job summary

WEX Inc is expanding its FinOps practice and seeks a FinOps Analyst to bring financial accountability to cloud spend. The role sits at the intersection of engineering, finance, and business strategy, translating invoices and usage data into actionable insights for technical and non-technical audiences.

You’ll prepare monthly cost reports, perform ad-hoc analyses, and recommend optimizations from FinOpsly and other tools, while supporting reservations, budgets, and dashboards for stakeholders

Qualifications

  • 2+ years in financial analysis, business analysis, data analysis, or cloud operations.
  • Advanced proficiency with Google Sheets and/or Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to translate large datasets into summaries and recommendations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication with engineers and finance leaders.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Information Systems, Economics, Data Analytics, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare recurring monthly cloud spend reports and slide decks for stakeholders.
  • Respond to ad-hoc cost analysis requests about workloads, accounts, services, or units.
  • Surface and package optimization opportunities (rightsizing, idle resource cleanup, storage tiering, license rationalization).
  • Support reservation of resources (Reserved Instances, Savings Plans) and track savings and coverage/utilization.
  • Monitor for anomalous spend, investigate root cause, and drive resolution.
  • Update and maintain cloud budgets, forecasts, and cost allocation structures.
  • Administer the FinOpsly platform and related dashboards.
  • Attend meetings with account administrators and financial owners to review spend and drive accountability.
  • Improve tagging compliance and cost allocation for shared services.
